Hi, I'm Suvarna – the founder and heart behind The Desi Closet SA. What started as a teenage dream has blossomed into South Africa's premier destination for authentic Eastern wear, and I'm honored to share this journey with you.
Established in 2020 and launched in 2021 – just two months after welcoming my daughter into the world – The Desi Closet was born from a deeply personal place. As a new mother navigating my cultural identity in South Africa, I realized how challenging it was to find beautiful, authentic Eastern wear that celebrated our heritage while embracing modern life. I wanted to create something meaningful, not just for myself, but for our entire community.
My journey has been anything but conventional. From studying Law to Photography, I've always been driven by curiosity and a passion for bringing ideas to life. Today, I personally oversee every aspect of The Desi Closet – from curating each collection to ensuring every customer feels the warmth and authenticity that defines our brand.
